Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park will host a Butterfly workshop that is the first installment of a series of
Animal Wisdom workshops. (Folklore, animal experiences and guided imagery). Nest attendees will learn about the
ancient cultures and what attributes some cultures gave to animals. Attendees can also join fabric artist, Sue Ruda to
create a journal cover where they can express their inspirations as they participate in the workshop. Each workshop will

WHITE SPRINGS –The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State park
is hosting a workshop to learn the various techniques such as wedging, cylinders, bowls, lids, cup, bottles and glazing
by throwing on the potter’s wheel. From centering the clay to trimming and finishing, students will learn all the essential
steps to creating pottery on the wheel. The workshops will be taught by Jean Davidoff, master potter and craft
demonstrator. Suitable for beginning artists, the class will take place on Tuesday nights beginning on August 26th and
ending on October 14th. The cost will be $165.00 which will include 26 lbs of clay, glazes and the firing of 2,000 cubic
inches of pottery in electric kilns. The class will be held at Craft Square from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. which will also

it easy. Squirrel Ridge Dog Park is an off leash dog park, where the dogs just love running around and romping with
each other.
So, come out and join us for a simple day of watching the Dachshunds play! Don't worry about bringing anything but you,
your dachshunds (some friends and family members are fine!) and your chairs or blankets to sit on.
We will be brining a cooler full of water (for the humans and dachshunds) so if you would like to bring something else to
drink you are welcome to share the cooler. We might even try a special treat for the dachshunds so I'll call it a fun
surprise and hope the weather cooperates! Also, there will still be the dachshund races and prizes, its just not a meetup

The Cross Creek Cloggers are hosting a second annual contra dance and silent auction on Saturday, September 13,
2008 at GDMA, (Gainesville Dance and Music Association located at 308 W. University Avenue, on the second floor, in
the building just east of the Seagle Building). Susie Rudder will be the caller for this event, and the band will include
Mike Stapleton and Pete Sucsy, along with other "surprise" musicians. Summer is definitely a great time to search your
closets, homes and apartments for items to donate for this year's silent auction. Do you have some interesting items
that our dance community would just love to bid on? A new pottery "honey pot" with wooden spoon was the object of
intense and heated bidding last year. Our first annual fund-raising event in 2008 raised over $1,000 to help pay for the
clogger's rent; we lasted for another year! Help us to have another succesful and very fun event! We appreciate your
continuing support of our group. Your help allows us to keep on dancing! Items which were very popular last year: art

through the city and end up at the Alachua County Fairgrounds, where there will be live music, good food and lots of
bikes!This is our effort to support the community in honoring the local law enforcement, rescue personnel and veterans
who put their lives on the line to keep America safe and strong. Over 1,200 motorcycles from across the state
participated in last year’s parade. Residents showed their spirit by lining the streets and waving flags along the parade

STATE PARK TO HOST SUWANNEE RIVER QUILT SHOW AND SALE
“Theme of annual quilt show is “Turning Twenty on the Suwannee ” WHITE SPRINGS – The Florida Department of
Environmental Protection’s Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park will host the 20th Annual Suwannee River
Quilt Show and Sale with the theme “Turning Twenty on the Suwannee ”. October 17 - 19. More than 200 quilts will be
shown during the three-day show on October 17 - 19. Workshops, vendors, boutiques, demonstrations, lectures,
antique quilts, a block contest and door prizes will also be featured. The 20th Anniversary Celebration will be held on

BIKERS ON PARADE FOR THE USA

The 3rd Annual Biker’s Parade will once again take place as a Veterans Day Parade, Sunday, November 9th to celebrate
the American Spirit in Gainesville. The parade will begin at the Santa Fe Community College at 12:30 PM, run 21 miles
through the city and end up at the Alachua County Fairgrounds, where there will be live music, good food and lots of
bikes!This is our effort to support the community in honoring the local law enforcement, rescue personnel and veterans
who put their lives on the line to keep America safe and strong. Over 1,200 motorcycles from across the state
participated in last year’s parade. Residents showed their spirit by lining the streets and waving flags along the parade
route. It was a tremendously successful event and this year’s event is expected to far exceed last year’s. Mark your
